"How to Reduce the Impact of Freight Costs on Prices and Optimize the Competitiveness of our Products"
TRANSPORT AND LOADING OPTIONS
Logistics costs are often under-estimated or not evaluated properly; many of the variables are not taken into account to match the conjunction of transport stages. All the segments of a freight route should be analysed separately and its variables combined as a whole in order for it to be optimized. This is the reason why we dedicate time to the matter.GLOBAL PLAYER
Shipping goods around the world implies using a large amount of information which has to be sorted out properly, always seeking to reduce the impact of logistic costs on prices and therefore avoiding the risk of losing competiveness or even market presence.
COMBINING STEPS
Every step of logistics has to be analysed individually. The best possible combinations have to be identified at all times between links, during the entire delivery process, starting by hiring the freight forwarder, dispatches, tracking, trains, containers, sea liners, warehousing etc. All components have to be coordinated watching permanently the add-up factor and rationalizing the physical and technical aspects to control the end result.
OPTIMIZING PROCESSES
If any goods are to be shipped in containers, and especially if sent overseas, it is of major relevance to plan carefully the total contracted volume and the freight route in addition to the right weight distribution for every container or truck, thus optimizing the entire logistics process from origin to delivery, taking care of every shackle of transportation.
VARIABLES AND FACTORS
Many aspects, such as weight limits on roads and limitations for trains, container models, truck types or contractors, can cause a logistical bottleneck and in consequence the explosion of costs. How could we combine all these aspects to optimize each variable and have a cost efficient transport?
SIMPLE SOLUTIONS
One solution and probably the most simple one, is to rationalize the container using its capacity at maximum. Regularly, the maximum weight limit for a shipped container is 1/4 or 1/5 higher than the one permitted on trucks, meaning that sea freighting capacity is being underused compared to trucking weight limitations.
CONSOLIDATING OF LOADS
We strongly recommend filling the container as much as its physical structure permits. Should you be working with drums, totes, bins or Flexi-tanks, consider using the maximum package capacity in each packaging type so that the transport costs can be amortized by distributing expenses on the loaded volumes.
HIDDEN COSTS
Experience shows that for larger orders (volumes) it is important to reduce the number of containers to prevent additional costs such as BLs, tracking, containers, vessels, TH, customs agents, courriers, time, port costs, etc. So far, 1/5 of the costs of forecasted loads have been saved by re-distributing cargo properly.
